The benefits of hydrogen as a clean energy source

The Element is A Viable Alternative for Clean Energy Production

In the pursuit of the optimal clean source of energy there are a number of options. Wind, solar and lithium ion have their benefits, but each have their own shortcomings and are not substantial enough to meet the demands of the future.

According to a study by the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute, Green hydrogen is forecast to fill 15% to 20% of the world’s energy needs that will not be easily met with battery, wind or solar power.

Hydrogen is an energy carrier that has the ability to store, move, and deliver energy produced from other sources. The most common methods of hydrogen fuel production today are natural gas reforming (a thermal process), and electrolysis. It can also be produced through solar-driven and biological processes.

So, what are the benefits of hydrogen compared to other renewable power sources?

Hydrogen fuel production generates zero waste

Hydrogen is a clean fuel that, when consumed in a fuel cell, produces only water.

GenHydro has a novel approach to clean energy technology and fuel production. We source waste aluminum, process it into our reactant powder (solid fuel), and use this solid fuel in modular GenHydro reactors, placed at a customer’s location, for emissions-free on-site hydrogen production and clean energy generation. This transformation from waste to hydrogen and power process produces no carbon. Waste to hydrogen process diagram

Green hydrogen fuel can be more accessible than existing alternative energy options

Many clean sources of energy, including current methods of hydrogen production, have proven to be unsustainable and both difficult and expensive to scale.

GenHydro offers an alternative energy solution that produces emissions-free hydrogen to be more universally affordable. Our reactors can produce hydrogen on demand, at a competitive cost, and without having to create a logistical network for moving hydrogen from production site to end user.

GenHydro has the capability to move the reactant or “solid fuel” to produce hydrogen on-site, instead of shipping the hydrogen itself. The customer will get 24/7 clean electricity at near-wholesale prices and green hydrogen on site, avoiding the high costs of transporting the gas.

Green hydrogen accelerating the circular economy

Much of the hesitation to transition to clean energy is cost potential disruption to operations. A circular economy reduces the material throughput of the economic system by not only closing but also reducing gaps. Regardless of the industry, business leaders can apply principles of the circular economy to transform their value proposition, foster long-term value and make a sustainable impact.

GenHydro’s process enables a multiple industry transition to clean energy production. Our goal is to be a part of the global efforts to push clean energy initiatives forward in a way that is universally scalable. What this means for us is using our technology to provide a means for existing industries to continue their operations, while also meeting clean energy goals.
